Song – I Will Wait
Artist – Mumford & Sons
Album – Babel
I was recently discussing the meaning of this song with one of my best friends. I have listened to this song a handful of times, but I never really gave my attention to what was being said. I always just enjoyed the catchy tune, which I do quite often with songs.
When you get past the declaration of waiting, you can see that this song embraces the patience which is required when waiting in life for what is longed for. In waiting for something, you are surrendering to its timing and not your own. When waiting, don’t simply sit and complacently wait, but actively wait for the future by preparing yourself for whatever your eyes are fixed upon in the distance. Stay focused on what you are waiting for. Be bold, stay strong and balance out the influence of your heart’s passionate pleas and that calm voice of reasoning. Only in patience will the future you are waiting for come to light.
In my own life, this is a great song to remind me to wait for God to move in my life and to not choose to act out of impatience to try and change my situation. I simply must bow my head, raise my hands and remember that sometimes the only action in life is to wait. Kneel down, know my ground and wait.
Life, keep it simple and live it

Lyrics:
Well, I came home
Like a stone
And I fell heavy into your arms
These days of dust
Which we’ve known
Will blow away with this new sun
But I’ll kneel down,
Wait for now
And I’ll kneel down,
Know my ground
And I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
So break my step
And relent
Well, you forgave and I won’t forget
Know what we’ve seen
And him with less
Now in some way shake the excess
‘Cause I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
Now I’ll be bold
As well as strong
And use my head alongside my heart
So tame my flesh
And fix my eyes
A tethered mind freed from the lies
And I’ll kneel down,
Wait for now
I’ll kneel down,
Know my ground
Raise my hands
Paint my spirit gold
And bow my head
Keep my heart slow
‘Cause I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
